Thatched Holiday Cottage near Yeovil, Somerset

Kents Cottage, Odcombe, Yeovil, Somerset

Kents Cottage, Lower Odcombe, Yeovil, Somerset

Odcombe

  • Not really odd,
  • and not really much of a combe…

What it actually is, is:

Kent’s Cottage, which is:
  • A dream holiday, like my Beach Hut experience, but different.
  • An old thatched terraced cottage with a unique, traditional olde-worlde feel.
  • In the picturesque little village of Lower Odcombe,  Somerset.
  • Far from the madding crowd, but close enough to it to be handy.

A Country Gift of Traditional Pleasure!

Why not try Kent’s Cottage, in Lower Odcombe near Yeovil in the cider county of Somerset, a fabulous chocolate box of a place,  close to the Masons Arms which does fantastic gourmet food and their own beer…  But not too close …! (..if you know what I mean)

It’s only 3 miles from the convenience of the pleasant yet busy market town of Yeovil, so is the best of both worlds!

Recommendations!

4 Star Accommodation!

4 Star Accommodation!

We have stopped over New Year and can vouch that it is all so comfortable, a special little treat.   Winter was cosy, but it’s good  – for any time of the year!!!

Cottage Garden in Snow

The Cottage Garden in Snow

Check out their web site, the many walks and interesting local excursions.

There are old curios & history, old forts, the Yeovilton Air Museum and Air Day – so many places to visit and see.  King Arthur’s legend starts with some related history near here (Cadbury, Glastonbury), as well as King Alfred the Great, the only “Great” monarch England and the UK has ever had.

Strangely Recommends!!

We can especially recommend the local pub, the Masons Arms, handily just 50 yards away, especially it’s own microbrewed ales!!!

This pretty Hamstone cottage has full central heating but also for those cold winter evenings, there is an open log fire. The fire is always laid for your first evening and even in the summer it is an enjoyable experience. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin bedded. The rear bedroom looks out over fields where you might see horses or even llamas! There is a small bathroom incorporating a toilet, shower and basin.

The garden has also been landscaped and now includes split-level patios, providing outdoor eating and a shaded arbour seating area. There is a gas BBQ at the rear of the garden. Two sun loungers are provided for relaxing in the sun and the arbour seating is ideal for quiet reading or simply enjoying a glass of wine.

Odcombe is a quaint village with a thatched pub and farm shop. The Mason’s Arms, with its micro brewery, is renowned for its wonderful food and home brewed ales and is an enticing 50 metre stroll from the cottage. The farm shop is a pretty walk through the village and is situated in a garden nursery selling fresh local vegetables, jams and cakes. You can also purchase more coal and logs for the fire. Two doors down you can buy fresh, free range chicken and duck eggs for breakfast from our neighbour.
